About

Attorney Michael William Mehas is a skilled litigator with over 30 years experience resolving highly complex legal issues, including divorce and family law. As an attorney, advocate, and activist he has represented high-profile clients both nationally and internationally.

Michael’s philosophy is centered on family wellbeing while integrating present day financial realities into his client’s real-life circumstances. With the ability to litigate or mediate Mr. Mehas provides clients with options in fighting for what’s right in their complex custody or financial matters in divorce. The idea is to keep family members moving forward in their lives creating a positive outlook for their futures.

Mr. Mehas’ background allows him to understand what the economy is doing right now and how it affects a client’s ability to prosper; how to pay off debts and keep as much financial wealth in the family as possible. He excels at unraveling complex family law disputes while preserving the net worth of high income earners, including divorce agreements, spousal support, child support, property division and wealth preservation.

Mr. Mehas’ Commitment to Facilitating Change

Mr. Mehas is especially committed to facilitating change to better accommodate the families of American Veterans, law enforcement personnel, and first responders. He advocates for the elderly and their long-term home and healthcare needs. He believes these families deserve the opportunity to reach a higher quality of life during these uncertain times.

Mr. Mehas’ Education and Experience

Mr. Mehas is a graduate of Pepperdine University, Pepperdine University School of Law, and the Academy of Justice School of Advocacy. He started his legal career at the Riverside County Public Defender’s office as a courtroom attorney where he co-counseled a high-profile death penalty case in only his third trial. His success and vast courtroom experience were the steppingstones to opening his own private practice in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

Mr. Mehas transitioned into practicing family law in 1997, teaming up with Ms. Santo. Before that he worked for Hannah Beth Jackson, now a longtime California State Senator.

Mr. Mehas was the first attorney in Ventura County to represent medical marijuana patients after Californians voted the Compassionate Use Act into law in 1996. He defended high-profile medical marijuana prosecutions in the late 1990s against the state and federal U.S. government working with some of California’s top attorneys. He has advocated for children in cases where they were tried as adults. He fought to save the youngest man ever on the FBI’s Most Wanted List from the death penalty.

Mr. Mehas is also an award-winning author and blogger who has produced films in Hollywood. He has worked with big-name actors, producers, writers, and directors on socially important film projects, including the truth behind 911.

For the past ten years, much of Mr. Mehas’ work has involved sovereign global institutions in finance, banking, and gold, which includes the security, accounting, and transference of major assets that back the transformation of world currencies into a new global financial system. Michael's financial blog series entitled Gold Wars: True History of Gold and the Global Financial System, defined the importance of gold and the role it has played in international finance, past, present, and future.
